George P. Baker papers, 1917-1989.

Collection consists of teaching and consulting records, research, writings and speeches of George P. Baker. Teaching records include cases developed and used in transportation courses taught at the Harvard Business School. Consulting records include reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence related to the President's Advisory Committee on Executive Organization, the Transportation Association of America, the Department of State, and the Civil Aviation Organization. Research material includes government and private reports, company manuals, pamphlets, articles, and research notes related to transportation; and an extensive collection of timetables and schedules for railroads, airlines, buses and boats. The collection also includes biographical and personal material including George P. Baker's notebooks and exams from his time as a student at Harvard University, appointment books, clippings, and some correspondence.

George P. Baker joined the faculty of the Harvard Business School in 1936 as an Assistant Professor of Transportation. During World War II he resigned to work for the government. He rejoined the faculty in 1946 as the James J. Hill professor of Transportation. From 1953-1958 he was the director of the Doctoral Program at HBS.
